Job Description

We are looking for a Billing Manager to join our team. This candidate will directly report to the Senior Billing Manager and will be responsible for supervising the local Billing Clerks. We are searching for someone with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related profession, as well as five years or more of billing experience. The Billing Manager must be able to work under pressure, multitask, be organized, and give great leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Maintain a complete understanding of client billing and payment terms, discount agreements, and lawyer and client preferences to ensure that invoices are sent on time and accurately, and that client and lawyer preferences are taken into account correctly.
  • Assist in the recruitment of new members of the billing team and the development of educational materials to be used by lawyers, secretaries, and legal assistants in their training on billing processes.
  • Ensures the effectiveness of PSCO’s CIAC Extension Policy by managing internal resources and building connections. To meet tariffs, provide direction and advice to the extension colleagues. In response to changes in the Colorado tariff and SOX Key Controls, develop, discuss, and execute consistent process improvements. Monitor extension activities, ensure appropriate CIAC payment collection and processing, and authorize refunds. Ensure that internal and external departments are informed about CIAC extensions on a timely basis. All persons involved in the CIAC extension procedure should get training.
  • As needed, communicate with lawyers and billing staff to create excellent working relationships between partners, administrative support employees, the Finance Department, and the billing team.
  • Make suggestions for write-offs of aging or disputed amounts when appropriate, and maintain billing rates appropriately.
  • Recognize the requirements of the department and the customers in terms of training and compliance assistance. Make sure that resources are allocated to address these demands. Provide comments and suggestions to other departments on problems affecting the company’s financial and customer satisfaction objectives, as well as regulatory compliance.
  • Work with the Senior Billing Manager to establish and manage a set of standard procedures and processes for the whole billing cycle.
  • Make a difference in the following areas: customer happiness; training; compliance; financial effect; and audit results Present your findings and ideas to the company’s top management. Incorporate CIAC issues into other work processes and initiatives by working with other organizations to find ways to enhance the process.
  • Manages the formulation and implementation of policies, procedures, and processes for the CIAC extension department in order to increase performance, regulatory and policy compliance, and customer satisfaction. She is the driving force behind PSCO’s process and policy standardization. Gaps in policies, procedures, and processes that adversely influence operational performance are actively discovered and closed.
  • Mentor, train, provide continuing feedback, conduct yearly performance assessments, manage and juggle billing workloads, and supervise direct reports’ schedules and overtime responsibilities in the billing department (and other offices as assigned).

Skills:

  • Candidates must also have excellent organizational abilities and the ability to handle several tasks and achieve tight deadlines while understanding scope, deliverables, and schedules.
  • Ability to undertake root-cause analysis and problem-solving in collaboration with other departments and evaluate data and procedures.
  • If you have at least five years of experience working in the utilities industry and have a BS degree in accounting, management or a similar discipline you are eligible to apply.
  • You must have excellent customer service skills, as well as excellent verbal, writing, leadership/interpersonal, and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to engage successfully with people at all levels.
  • To be considered for this position, candidates must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Aderant (or another billing industry standard collection software), and Microsoft Office.
