Qualifications:

• Job duties include coming up with story ideas and writing whatever is given to you. Your superior will be the managing editor.
• As part of your reporting duties, you can be asked to take photos, record video, or even go in front of the camera to give interviews.
• Use social media and other source networks as a part of your reporting and dissemination strategy.
• Create strategies that clearly state a vision and strategy for the coverage of the arts in close collaboration with editors and content creators.
• Maintaining a regular filing schedule may occasionally require extra hours over the weekend.
• Find tales where the arts, culture, and underrepresented populations converge.
• Talk with the local arts communities and constantly interact with the important stakeholders.
• Identify and create captivating arts stories for a variety of mediums such as broadcast audio, web, video, and podcasts.
• The reporter will also be expected to cover and find stories about the influence of money on politics, tracking donations, political action committees, lobbying, conflicts of interest, and other topics.
• Learning how to use online state and federal reporting systems, keeping an eye on and researching public disclosure forms, and submitting requests for public documents are all part of the job description.

Skills:

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree and three years’ experience in professional journalism are required, as well as strong skill in covering the arts.
• Required skills include fluency in English and the ability to explain complex ideas to a general audience.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team and to professionally represent the station.
• knowledge of the fundamentals of audio production techniques and equipment.
• Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook proficiency is also a plus. Knowledge of social networking platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and others is highly desired.
