Qualifications:

• Plumbing is set up, altered, and repaired by a plumber using techniques such main line finding and taping, routing, opening placement and cutting, and the insertion of hangers. Valve, trap, and union requirements are readily apparent when pipes are leveled and slanted appropriately. There is a greater efficiency in this system. Backflow prevention devices should be repaired, replaced, and installed in accordance with local regulations.
• Maintenance of heating boilers and other components, including but not limited to radiators, valves, pipe circulators, air compressors, condensate pumps, steam traps, etc. Performing maintenance on all air-exchange systems
• Performs scheduled inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance, repairs, adjustments, testing, and troubleshooting of assigned plumbing equipment.
• Designs and lays out plumbing systems and equipment using construction plans, drawings, and sketches. Completes system routing and placement; connects and tests equipment. Identifies required parts. Marks wall and floor pipe and connector locations.
• Observes the functioning of plumbing systems and fixtures to discover faults and identify their causes. Disassembles devices and removes faulty components. Examines used equipment and components for changes in calibration, dimensional requirements, and manufacturer standards. Utilizing test equipment or precise measurement tools, examines and calibrates systems and equipment to guarantee appropriate functioning.
• Respond to requests quickly (according to priority deadlines), provide progress, and follow up after work is done.
• Routine inspections and leak detection tests are carried out; tubing and pipe is soldered or brazed; lead joints are poured and equipment is seated; intricate combinations of couplings, unions, and joints are installed and fixed; Works with the manufacturer’s specifications to replace or repair components in heating systems and other water-heating equipment such as tankless water heaters.
• Cutting holes in walls and floors using hand and power tools to allow pipes and fittings. Pipe cutters, cutting torches, and pipe-threading machines are used to cut and thread the tube. Use a pipe-bending machine or a block and a piece of pipe to bend the pipe to the desired angle.
• Respond to service calls and requests for plumbing-related equipment operation, repair, maintenance, installation, and removal (including dining specific equipment).
• assembling and installing metal and nonmetal pipe fittings and valves using hand and power tools. Iron, steel, brass, and lead are just a few examples of metals that may be employed. Glass and vitrified clay are two examples of nonmetals.

Skills:

• Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position, including, but not limited to, the ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings, perform mathematical equations, and use hand and power tools in the appropriate manner.
• The equivalent of a high school graduation in education, training, and experience. A technical degree from an approved institution or university is desirable.
• There must be proof that the candidate has successfully completed a four-year approved apprenticeship program, which resulted in their appointment as a journeyman plumber.
• Knowledge of plumbing procedures and rules, knowledge of building standards and maintenance concepts and practices, The ability to identify and fix problems that occur in water and plumbing systems.
• Must be physically fit to operate in pipe spaces between walls and crawl spaces under buildings, from roof tops (vents) to sewage ditches and manholes.
