When it comes to all of the activities that take place in the industrial forest, the Forester serves as the Senior Resource Forester’s primary point of contact. Employees on the Forester’s team will work together to ensure that the company’s natural resources meet or surpass its yearly targets.

Qualifications:

  • Review factors and grant or deny applications; notifies applicants in writing of reasons for denial. Assign and participate in site clearing inspections to ensure that plans submitted are compliant with municipal codes and ordinances. Coordinate with lower level inspectors regarding site inspections to ensure that information contained in submitted plans is correct.
  • Monitor forestland held by your local government and assist in the creation of forest management plans that will help you manage the land in the future We collect and analyze data collected in the field as part of our work. Using this information, we can better understand the structure of the forest, which helps us better understand it. FLAT should be used in conjunction with forest service personnel and contractors. The condition of all previously purchased or newly purchased forestland parcels may be examined using this resource.
  • Those working in this field are responsible for all areas of forest management and harvest monitoring on corporation or privately owned property.
  • You will be responsible for a variety of responsibilities during your cycle, such as contract administration and/or other jobs as they are given to you.
  • In this position, you will be responsible for silviculture plan execution in accordance with regional silviculture strategy and the annual plan, field verification of silviculture treatment candidates and the provision of setting-specific recon information to management, silviculture contract negotiation, silviculture operation supervision, timely status updates for system activity updates, contract performance monitoring, including safety, SFI and EMP performance, production, cost and quality performance, and silviculture processing.
  • Primary duties include ensuring that the City’s tree stock is in good health and training other Streets Division employees about appropriate tree care techniques.
  • Each discipline’s plan review staff consults with the others to make sure that their code requirements are completed without interfering with the tree and landscape code requirements.
  • Assists and participates in city tree and landscape inspections. To ensure that plant materials are of appropriate quality, quantity, and type; to ensure that the necessary processes for safeguarding existing and installing new plants are followed; and to ensure that provisions for maintenance and care of plant materials exist.
  • Maintaining forest-related websites up to date and developing new outreach materials are essential for supporting various forest-related endeavors.
  • The yearly thin and harvest schedule is verified, put up, inventoried and all other duties concerning sale administration are completed.

Skills:

  • All applicants must have at least six months of experience in the field of landscape design and six months of experience in tree and landscape inspections from an accredited college or university, as well as six months of experience in the field of landscape design and six months of experience in tree and landscape inspections
  • Excel and Word fluency, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills, are required for this position.
  • Relationships with other workers, departments, and the general public must be maintained effectively.
  • Perform exterior inspections and diagnose pathological plant problems, educate staff in tree and landscaping inspections, build and manage successful tree and landscaping inspection programs, execute inspections and diagnose pathological plant conditions, and perform other responsibilities as assigned. Determine whether or not sick or physically damaged trees may be saved. Determine whether or not a landscape design should be approved or rejected by looking at it. Rules and regulations must be enforced with a combination of firmness, tact and objectivity.
  • All parts of tree care, from planting to pruning to disease inspection and disease eradication, need extensive knowledge. A good knowledge of the different tree maintenance techniques is also required.
