Job Description

A Medical Transcriptionist’s main duties include transcribing recorded dictation from medical and clinical professionals and organizing and filing transcribed reports. Takes on additional administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

• Ensure that reports are properly completed: checking patient’s names, site of service, account number, date of exam and referring physician.
• Notifies the supervisor if they are unable to complete an assignment.
• It is imperative that you read and fully comprehend all physician services regulations and guidelines.
• To ensure accurate transcribing based on the characteristics of each particular exam, provide services with autonomous judgment, ingenuity, and initiative.
• Use the office’s various pieces of technology, such as the computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, and phones, as required. Facilitate transcribing goals by using the RIS, PACS, Microsoft Word, and transcription dictation system.
• Assume responsibility for making sure all pertinent information is included in each exam, and obtain extra data from the PACS system, medical records, and the front desk to ensure that each report is correct and thorough.
• For standards compliance, accurately and quickly transcribing any dictation.
• To provide a lasting record of patient treatment, accurately transcribing medical dictation is necessary.
• Patient information, business pay and benefit information, and company processes must all be kept strictly confidential in accordance with HIPAA, public laws, and practice standards.
• executes tasks with meticulous care and precision.

Skills:

• Computer literacy includes skills such as using Microsoft Word, Internet Explorer, and email.
• Profound understanding of human anatomy and physiology, as well as medical terminology and pharmacology.
• the capacity to understand different accents, dialects, and dictation techniques.
• Use speech recognition and editing tools to toggle between dictation and regular typing.
• In a medical office setting, one to three years of experience are necessary.
