The Accounting Technician is responsible for timely, accurate, and efficient accounts payable (AP) processing and related accounts payable tasks in accordance with the Code of Ordinances, policies, and procedures, as well as federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and contracts, and with generally accepted accounting standards. Maintenance, filing, balancing accounts payable check runs, reconciling vendor statements, scheduling and printing reports, etc. are all examples of related duties. Comply with accounting-related tasks and responsibilities.

  • By gathering information, creating summaries and requests, and determining cost estimates, the employee may help the supervisor prepare the budget.
  • Assists with invoice verification, matching invoices to proof of delivery documentation, and data input of accounts payable transactions.
  • Prepares and shows statements and reports that show the links between accounts and that need occasional research and analysis.
  • The normal office support responsibilities include stocking office supplies, receiving, opening, scanning, and delivering mail, filing, photocopying, and other common organizational and support duties.
  • Accurate financial accounts and reports may be generated using information gathered from accounting records.
  • Data entering should be verified by the data entry operator. Ensure all entries are accurate before submitting them. Additional verification of data input and financial information.
  • To ensure compliance with accounting laws and regulations, verifies calculations, checks for accuracy, and ensures the legality of transactions in accounting records.
  • Verifies the accuracy, completeness, and compliance with legal requirements of financial records, such as ledgers, claims, invoices, purchase orders, and receipts.
  • Accounts payable accruals are created and reconciled each month. Aids in the monthly reconciliation of the accounts payable and other general ledger accounts as necessary. Identification and recommendation of journal entry corrections is their responsibility.
  • Verifies cash receipts, enters transactions involving cash receipts, and enters bills for accounts receivable on behalf of accounts payable.


  • Strong time management and organizational abilities; the capacity to perform well in a fast-paced setting with shifting priorities and deadlines; and the capacity to pick things up quickly and adapt to change.
  • Having worked with automated accounting systems for at least two years processing financial or accounting transactions, or having experience with similar transaction processing.
  • Knowledge of how to use office tools such a copier, fax machine, and computer.
  • Three years of full-time or equivalent part-time compensated bookkeeping, accounting, or similar experience
  • You can handle large quantities with high numerical accuracy, thorough follow-through, and cautious planning. A commitment to continuous process improvement.
