Qualifications:

• Process accounts payable, keep tabs on the general ledger, and publish journal entries on a daily basis.

• Reviewing employee expense reports to ensure that the necessary paperwork and approval is present and that charges are made in accordance with bank policy. Process and enter employee expense reports and invoices into the accounts payable system.
• Depreciation schedules for fixed assets as well as the maintenance and reconciliation of fixed assets are included in the accounting entries for pre-paid charges, recoverable charges, and fixed assets.
• Posting and checking the correctness of the daily USD and foreign currency accounting transactions. Afterwards, review the suspense activity and assemble the journals.
• By creating and modifying yearly agency spending plans, agency staff members assist in creating the biennial budget and make sure the organization is making the best possible use of its resources.
• Work in collaboration to provide clear and intelligible financial processes and information with outside parties such as the Foundation Board of Directors, independent auditors and college community.

Skills:

• Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a field with good accounting credentials, along with excellent accounting credentials. CPA or Enrolled Agent preferred; broad understanding of agriculture needed.
• Knowledge of cost accounting concepts, generally accepted accounting standards (GAAP), and general auditing processes, knowledge of how to comprehend departmental and state legislation pertaining to financial activities.
• Extensive knowledge and expertise with budget rules and procedures, including the ability to develop and evaluate budget and fiscal papers, as well as perform other accounting responsibilities.
• Dealing with financial databases and producing entries in a huge, complicated accounting program.
• Grading one’s judgment is based on how well one can integrate and coordinate various inputs and then apply that knowledge to particular situations. Allows for a wide range of options while adhering to pre-established guidelines or constraints
