Qualifications:

• Researches and interprets accounting rules and regulations to provide answers to inquiries about accounting procedures.
• Support the creation of financial reports for both internal and external audiences, such as the balance sheet, the income statement, and others. Accounts payable and receivable must be reconciled on a regular basis.
• Preparing and maintaining yearly agency spending plans to ensure the most efficient and effective use of agency resources, Assist agency personnel in preparing the biannual budget.
• Account for prepaid and recoverable costs, as well as the depreciation schedules for fixed assets, and monitor and reconcile such data on an ongoing basis.
• Review of farm financial records and payroll, including in-depth knowledge of agricultural accounting software and other accounting software used in the local market. You must be able to build relationships and start new businesses.
• Work with the Office of Institutional Advancement to build and maintain effective working relationships.
• Manage the general ledger and prepare journal entries on a daily basis. Accounts payable are processed.
• Work in collaboration to provide clear and intelligible financial processes and information with outside parties such as the Foundation Board of Directors, independent auditors and college community.
• Checking the General Ledger for correctness before posting daily accounting transactions in USD and other currencies. Examine the suspenseful exercise, and then prepare and handle any necessary corrections to journals.
• Examining employee expenditure reports to make certain that all required documentation and approvals are in place and that charges are being made in compliance with bank policy. The accounts payable system should be used to process and input employee expenditure reports and invoices.

Skills:

• Dealing with financial databases and producing entries in a huge, complicated accounting program.
• The level of judgment is determined by the integration and coordination of many aspects, as well as their application to particular themes. Within set limits/parameters, uses a considerable degree of discretion.
• Comparable to a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a closely related subject with strong accounting credits in education and/or experience. General understanding of agriculture is desired, with a CPA or Enrolled Agent preference.
• Understand the basic concepts of financial accounting and auditing as well as federal and state rules that regulate financial transactions.
• It is necessary to have a thorough knowledge of financial accounting in order to properly prepare and evaluate budget and fiscal documents.
